Is this crypto? Do I need a wallet? +

No. Every donation and payout moves as ordinary rupees over UPI or bank transfer. The blockchain is used only to anchor a fingerprint (a hash) of each ledger line, so it can't be altered later. Donors and beneficiaries never buy, hold, or touch a crypto asset — and never need a wallet.

Does "anchored on-chain" mean it's guaranteed true? +

No — and we'll never claim it does. Anchoring proves a line hasn't been changed since it was published. Whether the underlying spend really happened is a separate question, which is why every line carries an assurance label: self-reported, receipt-backed, or third-party-verified. Transparency includes being honest about the limits of transparency.

How can I verify a rupee myself? +

On any ledger line, tap "trace this rupee." Your browser recomputes the line's hash and folds its Merkle proof up to the root that's recorded in the public on-chain transaction — then links you to the block explorer to see it independently. No account, no trust in us required. The math runs on your device.

Is this legal for Indian NGOs? +

Yes. Because funds stay in fiat and no crypto asset is custodied, Don8 sits outside VASP obligations under the PMLA. Organisations onboard with 12AB / 80G verification, CSR-1 where applicable, and FCRA screening for foreign donations. Beneficiary data stays off-chain under the DPDP Act.
